I dropped the first one a lot and it actually lasted quite a while and only started to malfunction gradually, making the break predictable. If you're going to get this phone, be extra careful with it and expect problems with the battery life/charger. I like this phone but I'm afraid there are a few too many issues with it for me to consider a 3rd one.
Neither phone held a charge very well, at most held one for a couple days. Otherwise, the other problems are rather trivial and the phone's menu setup and everything is nice. Otherwise, it would just die within 24 hrs.
I've had two of these, the first being black and the second being blue. Waiting for a new Slvr to come.
Here are the two biggest problems I've encountered: 1) Durability. I was super careful with the second, only dropped it a couple times and just a few days ago it snapped in half.
2. Overall the design and functionality of the A707 is good. It frequently refuses to switch to a non-carrier owned tower. Durability - not so much.
Crack and your buying a new phone. Call quality and features are good. Both front and main LCD's still use glass substrate instead of plastic, which means if you every sit on the wrong way. 4.
On an ATT tower I get one bar. When this happens you can kiss using a micro SD card goodbye.3.The battery compartment has too large of tolerances, letting the battery wiggle enough to cause the phone to cut off. 4 issues I have with it:1. The memory card slot requires too much insertion force, which eventually causes the latch mechanism to fail.
But I have to reboot the phone to get it to change towers. I know this because I am on ATT and I have verizon tower within 200 years of my house. On verizon's - 5 bars.
only two probs with phone: sound could be louder (i dont hear very well anyway), and after 1 year of normal wear and tear, the phone closes too easily. i use the internet, and i can do all the basics pretty much. i can get maps if i need to. good memory.
I have had this phone for a year. (although my husband has same phone in black and his closes perfectly fine. the browser is very basic, but good enough for me. lots of memory, create 30 second videos and lots of good size photos.
i can check myspace, emails and look up pictures and very basic info with google. but he hardly touches his phone). camera works great outside, inside its ok for a cell phone cam. text pics/videos, get pic/video texts, check fantsy teams on yahoo.
Or put it on our credit card, then maybe they could fix it or not, those were his exact words. My niece has a nokia and they replaced hers for free and even paid all shipping. We bought this phone for our son, within a week the outside screen busted. We hung up and decided we will never buy anymore Samsung products. Think twice before buying this one. The main complaint is that samsung will not stand behind the product. We were asked to send $95.00 before they would even look at it.
However, scrolling through the menus has a delay from when you push the button, to when the scrolling actually takes place. I'll be 4 letters in before it will try and catch up on the display. The picture phone is cool and once you figure out the menues and how to access all of the features, it's a handy, sleak phone with a OK battery life. Same with the phone book. OK, so here's the deal.
Let me tell you I have been so careful with this phone and it has never been dropped or mishandeled. Also, I have never removed the casing to access the battery and one day it just fell off and wouldn't stay on. Dont get me started on Text Messaging. The LCD screen on the front cracked by a MINIMAL tap on it. I push the ringer down button 7 times. The phone itself is cheap. For instance, I want to turn the ringer volume down from 7 to zero. Then, sometimes (confirmed by several other users), the phone reception signal bars turn gray and the phone says "for emergency calls only." You have to power off and reboot for it to work.
Yeah it's fast downloading on the 3g network, and the screen has a nice display. Everytime I use the phone, delay, delay, delay. The volume is also not that loud, but the speak Very annoying. After about the 5th click, I then see the ringer volume meter start to decend.
